Tamil School
Mission
Our culture and traditions are better followed and respected among the residents of United States . Sometimes, the Tamil scholars feel that our children in USA speak good literal Tamil than the children living in Tamil Nadu. Our goal for teaching Tamil in Indianapolis is to make our children learn the heredity of our language and ancient culture. Also, we want our children to learn the kindness and beauty of this very old language when they speak and read. When our children visit their country and especially their relatives, they will be more comfortable in communicating with them and will be able to understand Tamil and Indian culture better.
What we teach
We are going to start with Tamil alphabets (vowels and consonants). We try hard to teach and talk in the class in Tamil. We also would like the kids to recognize the Tamil letters, sounds, words and the history of our ancestors. We would also teach Tamil moral stories, proverbs, etc. to emphasize the importance of our principles. Our goal is to make every child that attends the class be able to read, write and speak the simple Tamil language.
Details about the class
We started this class with children who are in KinderGargen and above. However, if you are interested in your kids learning Tamil, and if your child is also showing interest at a younger age, then please contact one of the Tamil teachers for enrolment options. They can be given the lecture of every Tamil class, but home work and/or teaching material will not be given. The Tamil class is conducted at the Fishers Library every Saturday between 2.00 and 4.00 pm. There are 2-3 teachers dedicated to teach Tamil and a number of volunteers are also available to help children practice the Tamil letters every week.
Message to the Parents
If you enroll your child in the school, please try to be present in every class. They have so much fun and show interest in their learning. Please see or email the Tamil teachers for enrolment application. Also see the attached form for the Tamil School rules.
